ECE Profesor Kaustav Banerjee appointed a fellow of "Industry Academy" within the high-profile “International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance (AIIA)

Their membership of over 3,000 academicians and scientists possess extensive expertise and a wealth of research achievements. The Alliance provides educational programs and events worldwide to drive AI research and innovation.
Banerjee is an internationally acclaimed pioneer in energy-efficient electronics, a critical field underpinning the global surge in AI, the Internet of Things, and other emerging data-intensive technologies. His groundbreaking work on three-dimensional (3D) integrated circuits (ICs) has revolutionized the energy efficiency of ICs, providing a cost-effective platform for "heterogeneous integration" of diverse electronic materials, devices, and technologies. This has led to remarkable increases in functionality and integration density, now manifesting commercially as 3D ICs and chiplets. Additionally, his advancements with 2D van der Waals materials and heterostructures have transcended fundamental barriers in microelectronics miniaturization, paving the way for the next generation of energy-efficient electronics.
Banerjee is an elected fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Physical Society, and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. He has been recognized as a Highly Cited Researcher by the Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), and has received the prestigious Bessel Prize from the Humboldt Foundation, and an IEEE technical field award - Kiyo Tomiyasu Award, in recognition of his exceptional contributions to micro- and nano- electronics.
The AIIA was incorporated in Hong Kong in 2023 by leaders in industry, academia, and research who are actively engaged in the field of artificial intelligence. The mission of the AIIA is to promote the rapid development of the AI industry around the world, the innovation and application of AI technology in various industries, for the deep integration of AI in the economy and society, as well as advance the progress and development of human society.
